Wiles earns All-Tournament honors as VU Bowling places 10th at Boilermaker Classic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Trailblazer sophomore Alex Wiles (Bloomington, Ind.) earned All-Tournament honors after his third-place finish at the Boilermaker Classic hosted by Purdue University this past weekend. Wiles earned his first Top-Five finish of the season by shooting an impressive 1103 over five games, for an average of 220 pins per game, 22 pins higher than his next best tournament this season. “Vincennes hasn’t had an All-Tournament player in over three years,” VU Bowling head coach Stephen Mohn said. “They aren’t easy to get against the level of competition we see every weekend.”

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Trailblazer sophomore Alex Wiles (Bloomington, Ind.) earned All-Tournament honors after his third-place finish at the Boilermaker Classic hosted by Purdue University this past weekend.

Wiles earned his first Top-Five finish of the season by shooting an impressive 1103 over five games, for an average of 220 pins per game, 22 pins higher than his next best tournament this season.

"Vincennes hasn't had an All-Tournament player in over three years," VU Bowling head coach Stephen Mohn said. "They aren't easy to get against the level of competition we see every weekend."

Vincennes as a team placed 10th in the 12-team tournament, finishing with a team score of 7404 pins.

VU sophomore Dylan Mollo (Centerville, Ind.) was the next highest Vincennes bowler, ending with a 35th place finish with a five-round score of 909.

Freshman Michael Zimmerman (Highland, Ind.) ended his day with a score of 886 or 177 pins per round.

Freshman Brighton Lucas (Salem, Ind.) finished with a final score of 637 in four games, for an average of 159 pins.

Freshmen Garrison Taladay (Terre Haute, Ind.) and Reyce Buchanan (Indianapolis, Ind.) rounded out the Vincennes scoring, with Taladay ending with a total of 508 pins in three games and Buchanan shooting a 459 in three games.

"This was a long, brutal weekend," Mohn added. "We didn't perform at our best on day one but came out on day two with a lot of energy. While we weren't the best on day two, we had more fun as team than most."

The Trailblazers will now get set to take their longest trip of the season this weekend as Vincennes travels to Atlanta to take part in the Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic at Bowlero Austell. This will be Vincennes' second Tier I tournament of the season.
